TWIA and the WPI-8
In Jefferson and Chambers counties, a new roof needs TDI windstorm inspections and a WPI-8 certificate to be insured through TWIA. Orange and Hardin counties follow different rules.
Salt air and humidity
Near Sabine Lake, flashing and fasteners rust faster. Inland, humidity and shade grow algae and rot decking. Materials should match where you live.
Pines, oaks and pecans
Falling limbs cause many storm calls, and needles clog gutters and valleys year-round. Trimming and guards prevent a surprising share of leaks.
